Embarrased by my guitar?

Ok, so I have a ruby red Harmony brand fat strat style electic guitar, i bought it for about 150 in 2004, and it sounds great, its in perfect condition, and I'm planning on buying a motherbucker, and some hum cancelling singles for it, and scalloping the fret board. The neck is curly maple, and the fretboard is ebony something. My friend gives me crap because its not a Fender, or Gibson, or Dean, or any kindof crap, shes a drumer, who never learned to play guitar. Should i be embarrased for having a less popular brand guitar, the company started in 1892, and were rated best for their price, what does everyone else think?
After I get done with it, I estimate the value at about 450, for 180 bucks worth of new pickups, and the 100 something i'd have to pay to scallop it. And no, its not one of those begineers guitars

If you like it, the action the tome, etc. who cares what a drummer thinks.

She's only gonna see the back die of it anyway when you play together.
